Novosound, an Award-Winning Scottish Sensors Company, Aims for Expansion in APAC

News 28 May 2024

After securing back-to-back international customer victories in the Middle East and North America, the Scottish sensor technology business Novosound is looking forward to making a name in the Asia-Pacific region.

The company will feature its wide area corrosion monitoring system, Ceilidh system, in Incheon, South Korea, at the 20th World Conference for Non-Destructive Testing (WCNDT) between 27th-30th May. The event is hosted every year by the prestigious Korean Society for Nondestructive Testing (KSNT).

The Ceilidh system works to resolve one of the significant problems facing the industry, corrosion under composite wraps. Recent commercial victories for Novosound in the global industrial sector come after the company was awarded contracts with Atom Group (Greece), Uniper (UK), BAE Systems (UK), and GE Aviation (USA) in the past.

Dave Hughes, the CEO and Founder of Novosound, said: “The Ceilidh system represents a significant breakthrough in the field of non-destructive testing, addressing complex challenges and specifically tailored for industries where corrosion monitoring is absolutely critical.”

During the company’s tour, CEO Dave Hughes will also be meeting with some of the most prominent technology and electronics organizations in South Korea to present the Slanj, a wireless wearable ultrasound device. Using cutting-edge technology that can see deeper inside the body than optical, magnetic, or electrical sensors, the Slanj platform is presently undergoing testing with digital healthcare partners in the USA and Europe. The tool is set to revolutionize the monitoring of biometrics, such as blood pressure and dehydration.

The CEO also said: “During our business visit to South Korea, we will be open to collaborating with prominent organizations across the industrial and digital health sectors. We are proud to be a representation of world-class Scottish innovation technology.”
