Trump’s $500B Stargate

AI Giants Clash Over Trump’s $500B Stargate Project Launch

News 27 Jan 2025

Technology leaders caused an explosion of dispute during Wednesday’s business discussion concerning “Stargate” after Donald Trump revealed a $500 billion artificial intelligence program. OpenAI, Oracle, and Soft Bank use their joint funding to build modern AI infrastructure while establishing data centers.

Historic business announcements arrived on Tuesday as Trump stood beside critical Allies, including OpenAI leader Sam Altman, Oracle Chief Larry Ellison, and SoftBank executive Masayoshi Son. The committee project head, Son became the prominent leader together with the other valuable billionaires. The unveiling event at the White House lacked MGX representatives despite their role as significant investors through Abu Dhabi’s state-funded AI fund.

A Twitter assault by Elon Musk administered critical disapproval to the “Stargate” financial operation. As the owner of X and the world’s wealthiest person with a net worth spanning $430 billion, Musk used X to criticize this project. According to Musk, he had insight that SoftBank only secured under $10B toward investment. I’ve received solid information about that.

Musk launched an unexpected attack against Trump through his scathing statements. Trump kept silent about Musk’s criticism while he engaged on X with wishing his wife Melania a happy anniversary.

Through his Twitter message, Sam Altman expressed admiration while acknowledging, “You are the most inspiring entrepreneur of our time.” But the gloves soon came off: Altman refuted Musk’s statement by stating, “Wrong because you must already be aware of this.” Are you interested in checking out the first construction project that is up and running? The project represents a positive impact on the nation.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella opted not to enter the controversy despite his company investing $80 billion into its Azure cloud product development, which he parodied in a CNBC interview with “All I know is I’m good for my $80bn.”

The feud reignites a long-standing rivalry between Musk and Altman. Together, they launched OpenAI in 2015 before they split due to differences middling the foundation. After 2024 the legal war between Musk and OpenAI continued as he charged the company with severe betrayal involving “deceit of Shakespearean proportions.”

Stargate founders Ellison and Son have not yet expressed their thoughts about this developing tech drama that keeps the tech industry intensely focused on its next moves.
